What is the EcoVadis Committed Badge?

EcoVadis  provides globally recognized sustainability ratings across four themes: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement.

Earning this badge shows that Multi-Action has built a strong, verifiable sustainability management system that meets recognized global standards, giving our customers the confidence that their labels are produced responsibly from start to finish.

How We Earned It:

Our approach focuses on measurable operational changes and responsible choices across the entire label lifecycle.

Materials & Chemistry

  • Using recycled papers and water-based inks to reduce our footprint without sacrificing print quality.
  • Transitioning to phenol-free (PBA/PBS) and PFAS/PFOAS-free materials, complying with Canadian regulations and meeting growing demand for safer chemistry.
  • Applying ecodesign principles from the start, working with scientific and academic partners to evaluate materials early and lower environmental impact.

Energy Efficiency & GHG Focus

  • Operating energy-efficient flexographic and digital presses with regular maintenance for peak performance.
  • Using an Annexair heat recovery system to reuse thermal energy from production processes.
  • Integrating bi-energy systems and environmentally friendly inks to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Implementing energy management systems and employee training to track usage and encourage energy-saving practices.

Waste Reduction & Circularity

  • Reducing waste at the source through process optimization, efficient material use, and minimizing errors and returns.
  • Sorting and recycling paper, plastic, cardboard, ink waste, and even food waste.
  • Partnering with AIM/Waste Management to convert production waste into energy or landfill capping materials, reducing GHG emissions.
  • Managing hazardous waste responsibly to prevent environmental contamination.

People, Safety & Governance

  • Maintaining strong workplace policies that protect employee well-being and safety.
  • Conducting supplier assessments to encourage ethical and environmentally responsible practices across our supply chain.
  • Completing our ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) evaluation to strengthen transparency and accountability.
  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement
  • Advancing R&D/SRED projects to test lower-impact materials, adhesives, inks, and processes.
  • Improving production processes to reduce waste, boost efficiency, and enhance product durability.
  • Exploring renewable energy integration and other energy efficiency innovations.
  • Enhancing our reporting systems so we can track, learn, and improve faster.
